I've always been a bit disappointed in FATE Core, it's far crunchier than I want. But, I realized today that my expectations are the problem, not FATE. I expect it to be a game of language and not mechanics due to my interest in HeroQuest (of Gloranthan fame). However, I like how FATE handles damage and consequences better than HQ. So I've decided to explore running HeroQuest with FATE Core.
First choose three Keywords: a Background, a Profession and a Defining Characteristic. Assign Great to one, Good to a second, and Fair to a third. Anything outside of your Keywords will default to Mediocre.
Now, pick three Aspects that further customize your character.
Everything else will be per FATE Core except Stunts will not be used.
