A to Z of How I Learned to Love D&D: H is for Hank the Ranger

To this day, when I think of rangers, Hank comes to mind.  I always wanted to be Hank, and not just because of his bow.

I've always fancied myself the leader type and Hank's role appealed to me.  He just seemed to be the good guy of the group and the level head, both traits I have worked very, very hard to achieve.

I've always been a sucker for leaders though, I'm the guy who dug Cyclops and Robin/Nightwing/Dick Grayson.

And I'll freely admit the bow helped.

Man that bow, I remember that in 6th grade, I "played" in a DnD game.  You see, I never attended a session, but my buddy "ran my character through the game".  I requested to be an elf named Melf and to have Hank's bow.  I have no idea if any of this ever happened, because I never really followed up on it, but I was certain it was awesome.

Thank you, Hank, you left a mark on me all of these many years later.
